TNT’s Snowpiercer television series, based on Bong Joon Ho’s 2013 film starring Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton, has lost its showrunner, Josh Friedman. Variety reports Friedman exited his role due to creative differences.
Snowpiercer is set seven years after the world has succumb to frozen terrain. A group of survivors from all walks of life, inhabit a train that circumnavigates the globe. Starring as series lead is Jennifer Connelly, who plays a passenger residing in first-class on the train–Melanie Cavill. Connelly’s Snowpiercer castmates include Annalise Basso, Daveed Diggs, Sasha Frolova, Benjamin Haigh, Lena Hall, Katie McGuinness, Sam Otto, Susan Park, Mickey Sumner, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand and Alison Wright.
In addition to executive producing and showrunning, Josh Friedman scripted the show’s pilot, which is helmed by Doctor Strange director, Scott Derrickson. At the time of writing, Friedman’s replacement has not been named. Snowpiercer’s first episode is slated to air sometime this year.
