Forest Whitaker: “We’re Going To See Things That Take Us Into Outer Space” In ‘Black Panther’
Black Panther premiere is just around the corner, and while people are eager to see this superhero on the big screen, the cast and crew of this film are currently promoting the film all over the world.
In a recent interview with Variety to talk about Black Panther, actor Forest Whitaker -who plays Zuri, an elder statesman who is both a religious and spiritual figure to King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and will help him learn what truly makes the ruler of Wakanda a leader- revealed that the movie will take us to “outer space”:
“The action and things are things that we haven’t seen. We’re going to see, not only travel things but things that take us into outer space and things that take us into the James Bond space. It’s a really unique amalgamation of different things that come together in an exciting way.”

But that’s not all he said, as he also talked about his thoughts on the movie in general and what the world might be expecting to see in this film.
“I think it’s a unique piece. It’s a cultural piece. I think people are waiting to find something new to be able to live in. And this superhero from Africa who’s trying to fix the world is something people have not received before. I think Ryan is a great director, so there’s always going to be some social conscience inside of it.”
He also said what the cast and crew reactions were after seeing a five-minute clip of the film -as no one has seen the whole film as of yet-, saying “some were in tears, while no one was believing what they were seeing”.
“Everybody leapt up to their feet, literally [after the five-minute clip of the movie] Some of them were in tears. They were so excited about what was actually occurring. So I think that people have that same excitement around the movie, so I’m expecting something great for the cast, something great for the world and something great for Ryan.”

I love this quote from the inter view too… “Everybody leapt up to their feet, literally [after the five-minute clip of the movie] Some of them were in tears. They were so excited about what was actually occurring. So I think that people have that same excitement around the movie, so I’m expecting something great for the cast, something great for the world and something great for Ryan.”
