Marvel’s Exiles: The Comic Reboot You Should Be Reading In 2018
If you’re a fan of Marvel’s Exiles this is good news for you! If you aren’t already a fan of The Exiles now is a great time to explore the story line, because after nine years of silence the series is getting the reboot that we all deserve; complete with a new cast of characters and a diverse team of creators.
The Exiles was originally created by writer Judd Winick and artist Mike Mckone back in 2001. The comic follows a mostly rotating cast of inter-dimensional traveling heroes, and became infamous by shocking fans with permanent character deaths. The series also caught it’s audiences attention because of its ability to incorporate any Marvel universe character and setting due to The Exiles ability to travel between dimensions. The team has been joined by iconic X-Men characters, and they have visited famous Marvel settings such as “Age of Apocalypse” and “House of M”. After a successful first installment, The Exiles finally came to an end after one hundred issues with an X-Men: Excalibur crossover. Since the first volume of the series The Exiles have gotten short and mostly unsuccessful reboots in 2008 and 2009 under writers Cris Claremont, Tom Grummet, and Jeff Parker.
Now, after nine long years of absence, these heroes will be back in inter-dimensional action thanks to a diverse team of writers and artists. Heading the writing of the new installment is Saladin Ahmed, a science fiction author who has recently gained popularity working on Marvel’s rising star series Black Bolt. Working along with Ahmed are artists Javier Rodriguez, who has worked on many comics including Daredevil, Batgirl: Year One, and Amazing Spider-Man. Other artists on the team include Alvaro Lopez, Jordie Bellaire, and Joe Caramagna.
This reboot will introduce characters, as well as bring back old fan favorites. It will also follow an all new story line that is sure to feature characters and setting from the existing Marvelverse that we all know and love.
Not only is this an awesome comic about an inter-dimensional super team, but it is also created by a diverse team that is sure to give a great perspective to the series. Supporting this reboot is also supporting comics that are created by people of color, so head to your local comic book store in April of 2018 when the first issue is released and grab a copy!
