NBC Orders Pilot for Gabrielle Union-Starring Bad Boys TV Spinoff
While a third Bad Boys film is seemingly forever in development hell, a television spinoff is at least making headway. Variety reports the series has scored a pilot order from NBC. The show, though, currently without a title, packs an interesting premise as it will follow Gabrielle Union’s character, Syd Burnett, from Bad Boys II.
In this series, Burnett has departed her role at the DEA to pursue a career as an LAPD detective. Burnett’s partner, Nancy McKenna, is “a working mom who can’t help but look at Syd’s freedom with some grass-is-greener envy.” While the duo differ in how they approach their jobs, “both are at the top of their fields.”

The actress will share these duties with Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, both of whom are also writing, and Bad Boys film producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Other executive producers include: Doug Belgrad, Jeff Gaspin, Jonathan Littman, Jeff Morrone, and KristieAnne Reed.
