Microsoft Reportedly Reviving Fable as a Story-Focused RPG
Less than two years ago, news of Fable Legends‘ cancellation and the shuttering of Lionhead Studios hit the web. It was a sad day for gamers and the development team; it also marked the end of a glorious, albeit rocky, era. Now Microsoft allegedly aims to breathe new life into the franchise, effectively ending its short-lived dormancy.
According to Eurogamer sources, Microsoft has given the keys to the kingdom to Playground, the developer responsible for the Forza Horizon series of racing titles. Reportedly, development is to soon be underway at the studio’s second office in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. If true, this iteration of Fable will have a team of 200 committed to its development cycle.

The project seems ambitious; Eurogamer’s report describes the title as “a story and character-focused open-world action RPG.” However, fans should keep their excitement at bay. Not only is Microsoft mum about the rumors, but the game is apparently still in its infancy.
