Freeform Gives ‘Party of Five’ Reboot Put Pilot Order

Another 90s TV series is getting a reboot. A new version of Party of Five has gotten a put pilot order at Freeform. The new series is from the original’s creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman.

Party of Five ran on FOX for six seasons and 140 episodes. It followed the Salingers, who had to band together and take care of one another after their parents died in a car accident. Oldest brother Charlie (Matthew Fox) became their legal guardian as they learned to raise themselves.

It also starred Scott Wolf, Neve Campbell, Lacey Chabert and in later seasons Jennifer Love Hewitt.

The reboot will take a very timely twist from the original, focusing on Mexican family the Buendias, where the siblings are left on their own when their parents are deported.

Keyser and Lippman will write and executive produce alongside Michal Zebede and director Rodrigo Garcia.

Viewers who want to catch up before the reboot airs can find the original Party of Five streaming on Netflix.
