According MovieTickets.com, Chris Hemsworth will no longer be contractually obligated to play Thor after the Avengers: Infinity War sequel.

Chris Hemsworth’s contract has officially ran its course after three solo films and four Avengers films. He told USA Today, “Contractually, right now–yeah, this is it…I’m done. I won’t be playing the character again.” He later admitted “This really seems like this never-ending thing. And now it’s potentially finishing.”

Marvel Studios still has the opportunity to renew his contract within the next few years, due to Avengers 4‘s 2019 release.

Hemsworth and Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok reached over 850 million dollars in box offices and garnered critical acclaim. Waititi and Hemsworth have discussed the possibility of a Thor 4 and they believe they can take the character to even greater heights.

Hemsworth has reached out to Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, about renewing his contract. While Feige hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility of renewing the contract he simply stated “Look, we just have to concentrate on (Avengers) now.”
