With so many female-centric films this past year, and some in the pipeline already for Marvel Studios, it’s no surprise that the creative team are finally beginning the process of a film based around Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow.

According to the report from The Wrap, Jac Schaeffer will pen the script for the upcoming film. Schaeffer’s screenwriting credits include: TiMER (which she also directed), Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, and the 2014 Blacklist pick, The Shower which is a sci-fi action comedy with Anne Hathaway attached to star and produce.

Back in 2016, Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, said he was “committing” to giving the character her own solo flick and possible franchise and now it seems the time has come.
