The extremely popular movie ticketing service MoviePass has officially grown to 1.5 million subscribers, with over 500,000 new subscribers within the past month, according to Variety.
The ticketing service allows individuals to obtain a single movie ticket per day for a low monthly fee of 9.95 per month, however, in November they released a price drop to 6.95 per month for a limited time. The subscription service aims to bring more individuals to the theatre despite rising ticket costs. With over 4,000 theaters participating in the MoviePass subscription service and its million subscribers, MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe believes that his company can shake up the movie industry and its recent slump.
“We’re giving people a reason to go back to the movie theaters and they’re going in droves. With awards season here, we hope we can make Hollywood and exhibitors very happy by filling seats with eager audiences.” He states.
