Warner Bros. and Amazon’s adaptation of Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch continues to shore up its cast with Jeffrey Wright in negotiations to play Hobie.
Ansel Elgort is set to star as Theo alongside Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk) as Boris.
Hobie becomes Theo’s boss and mentor, giving him a good life. He is also the legal guardian of Pippa, the girl Theo loves.
The Goldfinch follows a young man named Theodore Decker who survives a terrorist bombing at an art museum — an attack that kills his mother. From there, he tumbles through a series of adventures that finds him living in Las Vegas with his deadbeat father and, later, involved in art forgeries.
Warner Bros. is distributing the movie in theaters, while Amazon gets the streaming rights.
Wright is currently appearing as Bernard in HBO’s Westworld and is set to return in season two.
