‘Snowpiercer’ Series Gets Full Season Order at TNT

A few months back, we reported that a pilot had been ordered based on the 2013 sci-fi film Snowpiercer that starred Chris Evans.

Now, Deadline is reporting that the TNT network has officially ordered a full season of the TV series adaption which stars Tony Award winner Daveed Diggs and actress Jennifer Connolly.

Sarah Aubrey, the EVP of original programming at TNT, gave a statement on why the network chose to take a chance on the series. Check out her response below:

“I’m a personal fan of Bong Joon Ho’s epic film, and jumped at the chance to honor his original vision, yet expand upon the world and characters with a diverse, award-winning cast. Science fiction is the perfect genre to examine issues of race, class, gender and natural resources with thought-provoking and exciting storytelling. Snowpiercer will explore those relevant issues while embarking on a wild, action-filled ride.

The Snowpiercer pilot was directed by Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) and is set seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland. The remaining survivors of humanity live life on a gigantic train that circles the globe. Class warfare and social injustice are the common themes of life on this train.

No premiere date has been released for the series as of yet but we will keep you updated as more news is released to the public. Are you excited to watch this series? Share your thoughts in the comments below. We would love to hear from you.
