‘Sea of Thieves’ Closed Beta Announced

Rare’s highly anticipated multiplayer pirate game, Sea of Thieves, will be launching at the end of quarter 1. The game’s closed beta has just been announced, allowing players to finally get a hands-on look.

The Sea of Thieves closed beta will start at 4 AM PST on January 24, and continue until midnight PST on January 29. The closed beta is only available to players that joined the Sea of Thieves Insider Programme prior to December 1, 2017, and for anyone that has preordered the game.

If you can’t get into the beta, though, don’t worry! The closed beta isn’t covered by an NDA, which means that players are allowed to stream, record, and post content of the beta as they sail through it.

If you are in the beta, rest assured, Rare won’t be showing off everything in the game. Though the announcement promises sailing, shanties, and shenanigans, the full game won’t be tested in the beta. Several game elements are being saved for launch.

Sea of Thieves will be sailing into a public release on March 20. Are you getting into the closed beta? Let us know, and come play with us on our Discord server!
