‘Black Panther’ Director Ryan Coogler Says Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger Is Grounded
Black Panther is a little more than a month away and I don’t know about you guys, but my IMAX ticket has been purchasedT. Director Ryan Coogler recently sat with Fandango and talked about the movie. He had some very interesting thoughts to share like comparing the film to Godfather and James Bond and talking about Michael B. Jordan’s performance as the film’s big bad, Erik Killmonger.
The MCU is known for executing the comic book movie genre so well but many fans agree that their biggest problem is the villains. Personally, I’d have to agree but that’s another article for another day. Coogler talks about what makes Killmonger different and what we can expect from Jordan’s performance. Check out the quote below:
“I will say what makes him different — not from all Marvel villains, but I think a lot of Marvel villains — is that he has a real world sensibility to him. I think it’s a benefit of having Mike as an actor, but he’s a character that I think will feel very familiar to audiences. I think Marvel has had villains who you can relate to, but I think even more than that, you feel like he’s of this world. He’s very grounded, I would say.”
I’m amped for this movie, friends! What do you guys think Michael B. Jordan is going to bring to the film? Let us know in the comments!
Black Panther claws into theaters February 16th! Be sure to check out the SZA and Kendrick Lamar’s song, All The Stars, for the movie’s soundtrack here.
