‘She’s Gotta Have It’ Star Dewanda Wise Lands Role in ‘Captain Marvel’
Looks like the Marvel Universe is adding more diverse faces!
She’s Gotta Have It lead Dewanda Wise will co-star in Captain Marvel, next to the movie’s lead portrayer Brie Larson, Deadline has learned. Details on Wise’s role has not been revealed, but she will join the film alongside Samuel L. Jackson (who will reprise his role as Nick Fury) and Jude Law (Captain Mar-vell).
Captain Marvel will hit theaters on March 6, 2019 — which means we have a while before we get to see Wise in action. The movie will be directed by Anna Bolden and Ryan Fleck, who directed three movies together, including It’s Kind of a Funny Story.
In the meantime, catch Wise in She’s Gotta Have It on Netflix, which has recently been renewed for a second season. The comedy-drama series was created by Spike Lee, which is based on his 1986 film of the same name.
