ABC Cancels ‘The Mayor’
ABC has lost faith in freshman comedy The Mayor. The network has decided to pull the show from its schedule, with Variety reporting it has been canceled.
Though there has been no official announcement of cancellation, pulling a show before it finishes its run is usually a precursor.
The Mayor stars Brandon Micheal Hall as a young rapper who runs for mayor of his small town to promote his mixtape and ends up winning. It co-stars Lea Michele (Glee) and Yvette Nicole Brown (Community).

Brandon Micheal Hall as Courtney Rose and Yvette Nicole Brown as Dina Rose in The Mayor.
Through nine episodes the series averaged 2.9 million viewers and a 0.8 demo, making it ABC’s lowest rated comedy.
For the time being, Modern Family reruns will take over The Mayor’s post Blackish timeslot. ABC has three possible replacements waiting, the Roseanne revival, Splitting Up, about a couple who separate but still live together and Zach Braff’s Alex Inc.
The network has not announced plans to air the last four episodes and producers are pitching the show to other studios.
