‘Scandal’ and ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Crossover In The Works at ABC
After seven seasons of Scandal and four seasons of How To Get Away With Murder, the two shows are finally getting a crossover. Both shows have pretty loyal fans who were quick to point out Scandal star Kerry Washington’s Tweet to HTGAWM lead Viola Davis in what appears to be the Murder set:
Hey Ms @violadavis ❤️ check it out. This spot look familiar?! Where are you? https://t.co/JFdiCTmbFs pic.twitter.com/OcLdXtS9Nz
— kerry washington (@kerrywashington) January 3, 2018
Davis replied with this tweet shortly after:
Hey @KerryWashington, guess where I am?! pic.twitter.com/WKKJzrQcJx

ABC confirmed the crossover will happen, but no air date has been determined yet. Both stars will visit each other’s sets and we will most likely see them in the same setting. Scandal’s episode is written by Raamla Mohamed and directed by star Tony Goldwyn who plays Fitz on the show. The How To Get Away With Murder episode will be written by Morenike Balogun and Sarah L. Thompson, and directed by Zetna Fuentes.
Ratings for HTGAWM have been slightly dwindling lately, and Scandal is in the midst of it’s seventh and final season, so this is the perfect time to give the fans what they want. When asked about the show in 2014, Murder creator Pete Nowalk said he would hope Olivia and Annalise “exist in completely different worlds.” and that he didn’t think a crossover would ever happen, but given the success of both shows, a crossover is now going to be a reality.
Shonda Rhimes, who executive produces both shows also tweeted about it, sharing this picture of the script:
People. It's happening. @petenowalk, you ready for this? #TGITCrossover #HowtoGetAwaywithScandal pic.twitter.com/laROhxbeu8

A crossover is exactly what the shows needs, as the CW has found great success with their multiple-show episode crossovers within their DC Comics universe. Scandal is now in its seventh and final season, and HTGAWM is in its fourth season. Shondaland’s TGIT returns with new episodes on January 18, 2018.
