Overwatch’s team is currently testing its next Hero, known only as “Hero 27”. Kaplan says the hero is “very needed,” and that progress testing it is going great, so we might be seeing them soon.

The update also discussed Blizzard World, a Blizzard-themed amusement park, which was revealed at the end of last year. The map is hybrid, with Kaplan saying that the team experimented a lot with the gameplay and level design.

There are plenty of other new maps in the works too, but the update was vague in what they’ll be called, and what they’ll look like.

As a followup to last year’s Year of the Rooster event, Overwatch will also be having a Year of the Dog event for Lunar New Year, and there will also be another anniversary event, and an updated Uprising event planned.

Lastly, if you’re an esports fan, the Overwatch League is set to begin next week on January 10. The pre-season has already wrapped up, and 12 teams from around the world are being matched up for competitions. The teams include Boston Uprising, Florida Mayhem, Houston Outlaws, London Spitfire, New York Excelsior, Philadelphia Fusion, Dallas Fuel, Los Angeles Gladiators, Los Angeles Valiant, San Francisco Shock, Seoul Dynasty, and Shanghai Dragons.

What are you looking forward to seeing the most from Overwatch this year? Which team are you rooting for in the league? Let us know in the comments!
