‘Godzilla’ Netflix Series Will Receive a Tie-In Shounen Jump Manga in March

Shounen Jump + is set to launch a new manga in March 2018 to tie-in with the new anime Godzilla trilogy. Not to rehash the story of the movies, the manga will cover details not featured in the film. The manga promises to add original new elements to the story, giving readers a look into the “surprising past” of Godzilla‘s cast.

The film was intended to be released worldwide on Netflix in 2017 but has been pushed into 2018 due to a delay in the dub.

For those unfamiliar with the source material, the manga will be adapting. Taking place in 2048 the story follows Haruo, a young man forced to leave Earth after witnessing his parent’s death at the hands of Godzilla at 4 years old. Haru leads a group of “Earth Returnists” back to their homeworld only to find that 20,000 years have passed on the planet and earth has become an unrecognizable ecosystem ran ruled by Godzilla.

Although we don’t have a date for the worldwide premiere of Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, we can expect the Japanese release of the second film in May.
