‘The Last Jedi’ Soars With $800 Million Worldwide Box Office Gross

Despite having formidable competition with Jumanji, The Greatest Showman and Pitch Perfect 3, The Last Jedi is definitely the star of the holiday season’s film roster.

Although the reviews on the film have been mixed amongst fans, some critics are calling it the best Star Wars film since Empire Strikes Back which is saying a lot being that the film’s second weekend box office numbers have plummeted since its release. But those numbers won’t stop The Last Jedi from being on track to become the third highest grossing film of 2017.

Walt Disney reported that The Last Jedi has grossed $791.6 million in the worldwide box office as of Tuesday night, December 26. But as of this morning, the film has surpassed $800 million. Can we go for $1 billion? Only time will tell.

With Daisey Ridley serving as the film’s main protagonist alongside Star Wars alum Mark Hamill and the late Carrie Fisher, this is another Hollywood blockbuster that shows that a female lead can carry a film to critical and financial success.

What did you think of the movie? Are the box office numbers well deserved? Share your thoughts in the comments below…
