Disney Wants to Ring in the New Year With a Nostalgic Pokemon Marathon
What better way to kick-off 2018 then crying yourself into dehydration, while Pikachu attempts to revive a petrified Ash Ketchum.
Starting at 10 a.m on New Year’s day Disney plans to hold a “Power Packed Pokemon” movie marathon lasting nearly the entire month. Unless you have a heart of stone get your tissues ready because this trip down memory lane is being kicked off with the first three Pokemon movies.
From there on until January 19, beginning at 3:30 pm on weekdays Disney XD will be airing every episode of Pokemon the Series, ending each night with a different Pokemon movie beginning at 6:00 pm. Capping off the marathon will be Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You! on January 19. A movie which brought me my favorite fan moment of 2017, as fans were horrified hearing Pikachu speak for the very first time.
Hi, I am just learning that Pikachu speaks English in the new Pokemon movie and, yes, it is extremely fucking weird pic.twitter.com/k5hm5lyW7Y

If you miss out on any of your favorite Pokemon movies, Disney XD will be holding an encore viewing of all the movies on January 20 and 21.
As someone who has spent more than one New Year’s Eve night marathoning Dragon Ball Z, timed so that Goku goes Super Saiyan right at midnight, I can’t wait to kick-off my new year with Pokemon. Will you be checking out the marathon to relive any of your favorite childhood moment, or maybe watch Pikachu speak for the first time?
