Nintendo Power Magazine is Reincarnated as a Podcast

Donned with the classic “Official Nintendo Seal of Quality,” Nintendo Power is back in the form of a podcast. A little over 5 years since the cancellation of Nintendo Power Magazine, Nintendo of America has yet again displayed their growth as a company and newfound adaptability by launching an official podcast.

The first episode was launched today on Apple Podcast and SoundCloud, hosted by former Nintendo Power Editor-in-Cheif Chris Slate. Since the end of the magazine’s run, Slate has been serving as the Manager of Corporate Communications for Nintendo of America. Wanting to see a return of Nintendo Power, Slate describes this new incarnation as a “passion project” and is open to feedback from fans as it’s still gaining shape.

The debut episode kicks off with Slate, joined by co-host of Nintendo Minute Kit Ellis along with the Head of Partner Management Damon Baker. The cast has a year in review style conversation, mostly reflecting on the runaway success of the Switch.

The second half of the podcast we’re given a glimpse into the minds of developers of The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild. Slate leads an interview with producer Eiji Aonuma and director Hidemaro Fujibayashi where they talk about their reactions to fan reception and the development process of BotW.
