Issa Rae Developing New Shows for HBO: A Comedy About The Dating Life of a Bisexual Black Man, and a Teen Drama Set In Windsor Hills

Issa Rae is rapidly becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Not only did her hit show Insecure get renewed for a third season, but she also earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance By An Actress In A Television Series. She also became the face of Covergirl earlier this year, and announced that she’ll be developing an HBO drama set in 1990’s L.A. Needless to say, she’s been having a pretty great year.

She doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon though, as it has just been announced that she will executive produce a new comedy for the network titled Him or Her. A big win for diverse LGBT+ representation on screen, the show will chronicle the dating life of a bisexual black man starring Emmy-winner and Daily Show alum Travon Free.

Rae has also teamed up with Scandal producer Raamla Mohamed to create a third show called Sweet Life, which is described as a coming of age story about wealthy black teens growing up in Windsor Hills. Issa has come a long way since her popular web series Awkward Black Girl, and has rightfully earned her spot as one of  Hollywood’s most talented new artists.
