Sir Ian McKellen Wants To Play Gandalf in Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV Adaptation
Lord of the Rings fans have some awesomeness in their future with Amazon’s TV adaptation of the series. Now, it may be a bit early for casting news considering they just acquired the rights to the series, but when Sir Ian McKellen says he’s Gandlaf, you listen!
On Graham Norton’s radio talk show, the host went on to question McKellen’s thoughts on the new series and what he thought of the idea of another actor helming his iconic role as Gandalf. Well, Sir Ian was not having it. Check out his thoughts below:
“What do you mean, another Gandalf…I haven’t said yes because I haven’t been asked, but are you suggesting that someone else is going to play it?”
McKellen went on to say:
“Gandalf is over 7000 years old, so I’m not too old [yet].”
I hear you loud and clear Sir Ian! He’s not ready to pass the staff and pipe over just yet and quite frankly, I’m not ready for it either. Now the show is sure to garner a lot of attention with the cult-like following the franchise already has, but having McKellen reprise his role is sure to get some die-hard fans back into the show.
What do you think? Should they recast Gandalf or nah?
