Oscar Isaac in Talks to Voice Gomez in Animated ‘Addams Family’ Movie

As Star Wars: The Last Jedi emerges in theaters this weekend, so has news that its star, Oscar Isaac, is in negotiations to voice the iconic Gomez Addams in MGM’s upcoming animated film The Addams Family.

Fans have pushed for Isaac to portray Gomez for years, since the actor resembles the perfect substitute for Raul Julia, the actor who played Gomez in the two feature films from the early 90s. The films followed the highly popular TV series from the 1960s that starred John Astin, along with the animated series from the early 1970s.

There is still no casting news for Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Lurch, or Uncle Fester yet, until MGM closes its deal with Isaac initially, before moving on to the rest of the family.

The animated film will feature a screenplay by Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride) and directed by Conrad Vernon (Sausage Party). Vernon is also on board as a producer alongside Gail Berman of The Jackal Group and Alex Schwartz.

Isaac is currently reprising his role as space pilot Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is set to have a phenomenal opening weekend. He also stars alongside Natalie Portman in the sci-fi film Annihilation, reuniting Isaac with his Ex Machina director Alex Garland. Isaac has also recently wrapped Dan Fogelman’s ensemble drama Life Itself, which has just been snatched by Amazon for $10 million, and is currently filming the historical thriller Operation Finale, which has him hunting down Nazi leader Adolf Eichmann (Ben Kingsley).

Isaac is represented by UTA, Inspire Entertainment, and attorney Mitch Smelkinson.

How do you feel about Oscar Isaac potentially voicing a beloved character from the 90s? Is he a perfect fit, or do you have someone else in mind? Let us know in the comments below and check out our own suggestions in our Addams Family Fancast!
