One of Del Toro’s upcoming projects will be a remake of the 1947 film, Nightmare Alley. According to Variety, Del Toro will co-write the script with Kim Morgan. The original film focused on an ambitious con man played by Tyrone Power who hooks up with a female psychiatrist who is more corrupt than he is and she soon turns the tables on him.
Currently, Del Toro is still working on the script, so it is unknown how closely the remake will follow the story of the original. The director is also taking a brief hiatus, with his next film most likely being his Fantastic Voyage remake.
But despite the director’s hiatus behind the camera, Del Toro still has continuing projects including Trollhunters and producing the supernatural film Antlers, which currently has Hostiles helmer, Scott Cooper, in talks to direct.
