The Star Wars franchise has no plans on stopping at the end of its current trilogy. Lucasfilm, along with their partnership with Disney, have plans for a plethora of spin-off projects that will expand the universe for our favorite galaxy far, far away.

It all started with last year’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and will continue with next year’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. One spin-off film that has been circulating the airwaves is a film starring the Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan Kenobi. This past summer it was reported that the film was in early development with Oscar-nominated director Stephen Daldry attached to helm the film. Now Omega Underground is reporting that production on the film could start as soon as early 2019.

The unofficial report is saying that this spin-off film would take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. This timeline would most likely follow Kenobi on Tatooine as he watched over a young Luke Skywalker from afar. Many fans have also expressed the possibility of Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan with the complaint that the younger version of the character wasn’t developed as much in those films.

Of course take these reports with a grain of salt until Lucasfilm and Disney confirm the latter. Are you interested in an Obi-Wan spinoff film? Do you want to see Ewan McGregor reprise his role as the young Jedi? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
