Jack Dylan Grazer Joins ‘Shazam!’ As Freddy Freeman, Billy Batson’s Best Friend
He made a name for himself after his breakout performance playing Eddie Kaspbrak in the reboot of Stephen King’s novel It, but now is time for him to join the superhero world with DC Comics.
According to Deadline, Jack Dylan Grazer will play Freddy Freeman, “Batson’s best friend and the only person who knows the truth about Shazam”, but that’s not everything as in the comics he eventually becomes Captain Marvel Jr., suiting himself to help his best friend.
Grazer is joining the project who currently is starred by Zachary Levi and Asher Angel, with Levy playing Captain Marvel, the adult superhero, and the latter playing Billy Batson, the teen who is able to transform into Captain Marvel by yelling the phrase “Shazam.” Others who are in talks to join the project are Grace Fulton and Mark Strong.
Shazam will be directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation) and produced by Peter Safran (Annabelle: Creation, Aquaman) and a script by Henry Gayden (Earth to Echo) and Darren Lemke (Goosebumps [2017]).

I’m hopeful. Can’t get overly excited because while I liked Justice League, didn’t LOVE it like I hoped I would. BvS still hurts for what was done to it (if I can see a plothole, it’s a huge thing indeed). Maybe if I hear some things that make a favorable comparison to Wonder Woman, I can get excited, but right now, I’m just hopeful they do it right.
