‘New Mutants’ Making A Return to Marvel Comics in ‘New Mutants: Dead Souls’

The movie won’t be out for another 4 months, but worry not New Mutants fans! A new comic series will be hitting the shelves very soon called New Mutants: Dead Souls, a six-issue miniseries from artist Adam Gorham (Rocket) and writer Matthew Rosenberg (Phoenix Resurrection, Secret Warriors). According to CB.com, the team will consist of Magik, Boom Boom, Rictor, Strong Guy, and Wolfsbane brought together by former New Mutant Karma.

The team is said to face supernatural threats, much like the upcoming film. Smart marketing move Marvel. Matthew Rosenberg spoke about what drew him to New Mutants, check it out below:

“To me, the New Mutants exemplify everything I love about [super hero teams]. They are true underdogs, doubted and dismissed, but always ready to prove themselves. They’re the weirdos, the outcasts, the leftovers, and the misfits, but they are there for the people who need them.”

He went on about what we can expect from the upcoming miniseries,

“Our series takes all of that, collects some of the best New Mutants alongside oddballs better known for their time with X-Factor and X-Force, and throws them into a mission they aren’t at all ready for. We pack it full of nods to the history of the team and hints about their future, and enough creepy moments, epic battles, offbeat humor, and dysfunctional family dynamics to make a book worthy of the title New Mutants.”

No word on a release for the comic yet, but be sure to catch New Mutants in theaters April 13, 2018!
