Ben Mendelsohn Shows Interest In Playing Doctor Doom

Well it seems like actor Ben Mendelsohn is looking to add yet another big bad role under his belt. Known for his role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story & the Netflix original Bloodline, Mendelsohn recently expressed interest in playing the iconic Victor Von Doom in the upcoming solo movie announced by Fox.

On Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Mendelsohn went on about his love for the character and why he wants to play Doctor Doom. Check out what he had to say below:

“[He] is the greatest comic character of all time. The thing that’s really appealing about Victor is the damage and trauma, the loss of the family, the wrong done to him, then the revenge and the takeover. Then it’s the protectiveness of Latveria wrapped in that Cold War vibe. What actually makes him great is his caring bit. That’s what’s great about Doctor Doom, and I just like him!”

The movie is said to be directed by Fargo and Legion creator, Noah Hawley. However, there’s still the whirlwind of rumored reports that 20th Century Fox is looking to sell its entertainment properties and that Marvel and Sony are both in the running for the rights.

No word on when the film starts production, but what do you guys think? Are we here for this casting or no? Let’s chat!
