Last year Pokemon Go the mobile video game took over everyone’s smartphones and the ‘gotta catch em all’ fever isnt stopping anytime soon. Back in July 2016, Legendary Pictures acquired the rights to the property and have planned a full slate of live action films to follow their roster of many Pokemon games, shows and animated movies.
The first live action endeavor will be Detective Pikachu and the film has found its lead in actor Justice Smith.
You may recognize his face, and hair, from the short-lived Netflix original series The Get Down. But Smith isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
Detective Pikachu will be directed by Rob Letterman based on a script written by Guardian Of The Galaxy scribe Nicole Perlman. What do you think of this casting? Is Justice a good fit for the first ever live action Pokemon film? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
Detective Pikachu is currently in pre-production and has no official release date.
