‘Chewing Gum’ Will Return For Third Season
A few months ago, it had been reported that the hit Netflix series, Chewing Gum, would not be returning any time soon for season three. Of course, fans of the show were saddened by the news but now it seems fans will have something to smile about.
Star and writer of the series, Michaela Coel, took to Twitter to reply to fans about the next season of the beloved show. Check out Coel’s tweet below:

The initial report about Chewing Gum not returning for a season three was posted by Broadcast and had a quote from Channel E4 executive, Fiona McDermott, which said, “She’s [Coel] a very funny and clever writer so she’ll always have a home here if she wants to do a project with us. It’s bittersweet but it’s always been part of what we do here. We establish people and then there’s a point where they have to move on.”
But Coel let people aware earlier this week that she had not talked to any publication or journalist personally to state that the show was not returning for a new season:

In any case, it’s exciting that Chewing Gum will indeed be returning and we will anxiously be awaiting the release date announcement.

There will be no shortage of Coel on Netflix as she has some productions in the work with the streaming giant, including a dark comedy and a drama. Netflix also acquired the rights to Coel’s musical Been So Long.
