‘Get Out’ To Compete In Comedy Category For Golden Globes Nomination

OH THE IRONY OF IT ALL!

Back in February, comedian and actor Jordan Peele made his directorial debut with his psychological thriller/satire Get Out. The film was a hit critically and financially so some people will agree that it deserves every award it gets.

With awards season right around the corner, EW has confirmed through Universal who distributed the film that Get Out has been submitted for consideration atbthe Golden Gloves. But in the Comedy/Musial category. I’m sure you are wondering why a film like Get Out would be put in that category? But it’s a clear attempt at getting more awards noms. The same thing happen last year when Scott Ridley’s The Martian was noninated in the comedy category as well.

To add to the irony in all of this, Jordan Peele tweeted out his response to the news of his film’s awards run:

The category in which Get Out can be defined is obviously skating on blurred lines. But one thing no one is confused about is the film’s relevance in the current social climate and overall, it’s just a damn good film.
