‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?’ Movie in the Works With ‘It’ & ‘Annabelle: Creation’ Writer Gary Dauberman
In the wake of reboots, remakes and revivals (many appealing to the 90’s kid inside most of us), Paramount Pictures is starting an Are You Afraid of the Dark? movie based off of the 90’s show of the same name. The film will be produced & written by Gary Dauberman, the same twisted genius behind Annabelle: Creation & It.
If you don’t remember, Are You Afraid of the Dark was an anthology series back in the 90’s that came on Teen Nick. The series told multiple scary stories that starred some of everyone’s favorite teen actors of the 90’s. Writer/producer Gary Dauberman recently spoke to THR about the project and what it’ll be like. Check it out below:
“The show is about the shared experience of telling stories — especially scaryones. We’re going to celebrate that with this movie and honor the darker, scarier tone of the show, which was really groundbreaking for Nickelodeon at the time. I hope the Midnight Society approves.”
It sounds pretty lit if you ask me. I was hoping they’d take the darker/more scarier approach to this movie contrary to the recentn Goosebumps films, which have been more of a horror-comedy genre. No word yet on a release date but stay tuned here for more news on the upcoming Are You Afraid of the Dark? movie! Let us know what you think.
