By now, it is well-known to Whovians that Jodie Whittaker will be the newest Doctor on the long-running series of Doctor Who.  She is the first woman to permanently play the role of the Time Lord.

And it had also been reported that Whittaker will make her debut as the Doctor in the upcoming Christmas special and then fully take over the role in fall 2018.  She will be joined by new members Bradley Walsh (Law and Order: UK), Tosin Cole (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Mandip Gill (Hollyoaks).

With the Christmas special fast-approaching, BBC has released the first images of Whittaker as the Doctor.

Whittaker, seen standing behind the trusty Tardis, will be replacing the current Doctor portrayed by Peter Capaldi.  Capaldi will finish up with his final performance in the role in the Christmas special.
