A Deal between 21st Century Fox and Disney is Reportedly Still Possible
It would seem that the idea of Disney and 21st Century Fox coming together isn’t as dead as some may think.
Disney reportedly approached 21st Century Fox earlier this week with the intention of purchasing all of their movie and television assets. If the studio were to agree, Fox would then shift their focus to sports and news, and according to CNBC, “pencil’s aren’t down” regarding this possibility.
While it might seem like just big companies attempting to buy each other out, this is actually super important especially for any fan of Marvel. Marvel Studios is currently owned by Disney while 21st Century Fox owns the rights the characters in the Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises. If the merger were to go through, characters like Storm, Mr. Fantastic and Cyclops would be able to appear in the same films as all of the Marvel characters we’re used to seeing on the big screen, giving us the storylines and battles that we truly deserve.
While there is no official word out or anything, the mere possibility of this purchase is already doing well for both companies who each saw a rise in their stock prices this week: Disney went up seven percent, while Fox went up a whopping eighteen.
Are you excited about the possibility of this collab working out or do you think they should take all of this as a sign and just scrape the idea altogether? Tell us what you think in the comments below!
