Benedict Wong to Headline in Syfy Pilot ‘Deadly Class’

Known recently from his latest role in Doctor Strange, Benedict Wong has been cast for Syfy’s new pilot for Deadly Class.

The pilot has been described as a coming-of-age journey and is set in the late 1980s.  It follows a disillusioned teenager who is recruited into a high school for assassins.  There, he has to maintain his own moral code while surviving ruthless education, vicious social cliques, and his adolescent uncertainties.

Wong is currently set to star in the role as Master Lin, the headmaster of the School for the Deadly Arts.  He is a fearsome and deadly principal and an ever-changing chameleon.  His students yearn to earn his approval.

Full casting for the pilot has also been revealed including Benjamin Wadsworth (Teen Wolf) will play Marcus, a socially anxious and awkward outcast; Lana Condor (X-Men: Apocalypse) will play Saya, who is driven to be valedictorian and will let nothing stand in her way; Maria Gabriela de Faria will portray Maria, who switches between fast-changing emotions; newcomer Luke Tennie will play Willie, a hardened gangster who is a softie and is an honest and thoughtful person; Liam James (The Way, Way Back) will play Billy, a skater punk, son of a corrupt cop, and school misfit; and Michel Duval (Queen of the South) will portray Chico, a fearsome, muscular, son of a cartel drug lord that no one messes with.

 

The Russo brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) are set to executive produce the pilot along with Adam Targum, Rick Remender, Miles Orion Feldsott, Mike Larocca, and Lee Toland Krieger.  Universal Cable Productions and Sony Pictures Television will co-produce.
