Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg Developing Superhero Drama ‘The Boys’ at Amazon

Fresh off the success of AMC’s Preacher, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are bringing another unique comic book property to TV.

The duo, along with Eric Kripke (Supernatural) are working on The Boys for Amazon. The TV series, which has already been greenlit by the studio, is based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys revolves around a group of vigilantes known informally as “the boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

Kripke will serve as executive producer/showrunner, while Rogen and Goldberg direct.

“In a landscape saturated with superhero shows, The Boys is the next evolution in this popular genre,” said Head of Scripted Series for Amazon Studios, Sharon Tal Yguado. “With Eric, Evan, Seth and Original Film all behind this series, we are excited to adapt this popular comic, from the visionary minds of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, for television.”

Amazon also recently announced it was developing a Lord of the Rings TV series.
