Mark Millar and Netflix To Publish New Comic Book ‘The Magic Order’

Netflix is entering the comic book publishing world, as they have teamed up with Mark Millar (The Authority, The Ultimates, Marvel Knights Spider-Man, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Civil War, Kingsman: The Secret Service) to create a new comic book with the title The Magic Order.

Yesterday, Mark Millar got into Twitter to make the announcement, revealing the cover of the upcoming series with art by Olivier Coipel, a longtime Marvel artist better known for his work in ThorThe AvengersThe Amazing Spider-Man. This was later confirmed by Netflix US Official Twitter Account.

The comic book series will be a limited run six-issue, planned for a first issue release in Spring 2018, no specific date. And, while talking about this project, Millar appear over the moon to be officially working with Coipel.

Netflix hiring Olivier has also made me the happiest guy alive. I’ve been after him for almost ten years so to finally have our names in the same book is an absolute honour.”

The Magic Order will tell the story of five families of sorcerers who have secretly sworn to protect the world from the ghoulies, ghosties and evil things that would destroy it, and according to Miller is the kind of dark fantasy and entertainment that the market needs.

“We wanted to make a splash with our first book for Netflix and this is it. I love dark fantasy and there’s an enormous gap in the market for something like this.”

While Netflix is known for his TV and Movie Original Content, as of right now there’s no hint of confirmation for a series adaptation of this upcoming comic book.
