Chris Hemsworth Says Thor Won’t Have [Spoiler] in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’
Spoiler Alert! This story contains spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok. If you haven’t seen it, stop reading now!
Thor: Ragnarok really put the title hero through the ringer. In addition to losing his hammer, being stranded in the gladiatorial pits of Sakaar and forced to fight his friend The Hulk, he suffers the death of his closest friends and family, as well as the destruction of his planet.
Director Taika Waititi explained Thor’s rough journey in Ragnarok to EW.
“That kind of just evolved just throughout the script process, to just keep stripping that character down, having him lose the hammer and all those things and to kind of create a broken version of the character,” he said. “At the end, he sort of becomes a refugee.”

Perhaps the most surprising moment of the movie came when Thor lost his eye during a fight with Hela.
As the film ends with Thor and the remaining survivors of Asgard headed for Earth, he sports an eyepatch similar to Odin’s.
Star Chris Hemsworth says that in Avengers: Infinity War, Thor will still be missing an eye.
“Yeah we carry it into the film with the eye patch you see in this film,” said Hemsworth.
This is notable since Marvel occasionally likes to retcon the sadder moments of its movies. However, it appears Thor may not get a magical fix for his eye.
Thor: Ragnarok is currently in theaters.
