‘Wonder Woman’ Becomes the Highest-Grossing Superhero Origin Film

Wonder Woman was not only a critical and box office success, but a win for female superheroes, and it has now become the highest-grossing superhero origin film.

With an updated international box office take that pushed the Patty Jenkins directed film to a total of $821.74 million, Wonder Woman surpassed Sam Raimi’s, 2002 Spider-Man movie. It looked for a time that Wonder Woman would be sure to snag the number one spot with its consecutively good weeks at the box office (especially domestically) but now it’s official.

Based on the critical response of the film, Wonder Woman has been the best reviewed DCEU film thus far and Warner Bros. has made no secret about pushing the film for award season consideration, including categories like Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay just to name a few.

As of right now, it seems as though Wonder Woman was the best thing to happen to the DCEU with Man of Steel star, Henry Cavill, stating in an interview that Wonder Woman was “a step in the right direction” for the DCEU.

If you can’t get enough Wonder Woman, the Amazonian Princess will join forces with Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg and Flash in Justice League when it hits theaters on November 17.
