‘Undateable’ Creator Adam Sztykiel in Talks to Write ‘Black Adam’

Fresh off the news that Zachary Levi has been cast as the lead in Shazam!, it appears DC Entertainment is building the creative team for another project.

The Tracking Board is reporting that Adam Sztykiel, creator of the NBC comedy Undateable, is in talks to write New Line and DC’s Black Adam movie.

Black Adam will star Dwayne Johnson in the title role. The character was supposed to be the villain of Shazam!, but when Johnson came on board, it was decided he would receive a spinoff movie of his own.

Sztykiel’s previous writing credits include Due Date, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul, We’re the Millers 2 and Spy Guys.

With its interest in Sztykiel, it seems like the studio is planning to go a comedic route with the movie.

Black Adam is being produced by Johnson and Hiram Garcia through Seven Bucks Productions, as well as Flynn Picture Company’s Beau Flynn.

Though Black Adam is not set to hit theaters for quite some time, there have been rumors that the character may show up sooner in the DC Extended Universe.

What do you think of a more comedic Black Adam movie?
