Devanshi Patel sets Dramedy Featuring Indian-American at The CW
The CW is trying to recreate some of its Jane the Virgin magic by developing dramedy Make Divya Great Again from writer Devanshi Patel (Blackish).
Make Divya Great Again centers on an Indian-American woman, who under tremendous pressure from her traditional parents, bails on her arranged marriage and invents a perfect Indian boyfriend. She then sets in motion an absurd and poignant series of events that derail her life, all while she is trying to clear her name in the darkly comic accidental death of her ex-fiance.

Devanshi Patel also works on the shows Bad Indians and Part Timers. Source: writingpad.com
Patel will also executive produce alongside Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, Patti Carr (90210) and Alex Hertzberg.
In addition to her work writing for Blackish, Patel is also a stand up comedian and a graduate of the Disney/ABC writing program.
The CW’s schedule is dominated by its Arrowverse superhero shows and fantasy/horror series like Supernatural and The Originals, however, Fridays it airs the female driven block of Jane the Virgin and My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. If it gets picked up to series, Make Divya Great Again would likely fit it here.
