Reports are coming in that Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, and director Richard Donner are supposedly in talks to make a fifth Lethal Weapon film, following after 1998’s Lethal Weapon 4.

According to Deadline, there are reports that Donner would direct, making this his first directed film since 2006. Channing Gibson, the writer of Lethal Weapon 4 and creator of NYPD Blue, would be writing.

Supposedly, everyone is on board, including Warner Bros., who released the last four films, and currently distributes the Lethal Weapon show on FOX. Whether Lethal Weapon 5 would connect to the show is unclear.

Since the first Lethal Weapon film premiered in 1987, the series has grossed over $955 million worldwide, along with a handful of parodies and spinoffs.
