Zachary Levi set to play Shazam in DCEU
With Justice League’s theatrical release slowly creeping upon us, fans have been wondering about a handful of major players in the DCEU. The two characters that get brought up the most are Green Lantern and Shazam, both of which are set to have film in the future. While our Green Lantern actor is still nowhere to be found, it looks like DC and Warner Bros. have finally picked their Shazam.
In an exclusive from THR, it was revealed that Zachary Levi would be playing the titular character. This is kind of a big deal because we’ve known that Dwayne Johnson would be playing Black Adam – who is also set to get a solo film – for years now, so it’s kind of great to finally know who will be portraying Shazam (or Captain Marvel) in the DCEU.
Levi is most famously known for his role as Chuck Bartowski in the TV show Chuck. He’s also an actor who was featured in a Marvel film (Thor 2), before coming over to a film on the WB side of things. He’s been in the game for years, and he’s proved to have a durable set of acting chops, so we at GOC are stoked to see him portraying Earth’s mightiest mortal in a live-action film.
