Showtime has decided to enter the fray by teaming up with Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda on an adaptation of the popular book series The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss.

Season one is described as “a subversive origin story of legendary proportions set a generation before the events of the trilogy’s first novel, The Name of the Wind.”
In addition to executive producing duties, Miranda will also compose music for the show. John Rogers (Leverage) is set to be showrunner.
“Pat Rothfuss’ Kingkiller series is some of the most exciting storytelling I have ever read,” said Miranda. “I could not be more thrilled to help bring the sights and sounds of his wondrous world of Temerant to the screen.”
