This was confirmed by the Twitter -verified- account of the film, where we can see Tom Hardy with the caption Day 1 #Venom. Not much else is seen but not only does this proof that Hardy is actually involved but also that this is happening.
Production starts with less than a year until the film’s premiere, after changes in the start date, the addition of a new writer for the script and Marvel and Sony’s back and forth on whether it was going to be part of the MCU -spoiler alert: it’s not-.
So far, what we know is that the film will be starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, the first and original host of the symbiote known as Venom, with the likelyhood of being with Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott and Scott Haze. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) is directing.
