Amber Ruffin Developing Comedy For NBC
Amber Ruffin is writing and co-executive producing a new comedy based on her life.
Going Dutch is based on Ruffin’s life. It explores what happens when a woman who moves abroad to escape her overbearing family and the responsibility of the family business returns home with her Dutch boyfriend. He is a renaissance man whose blunt, outsider perspective might be exactly what Amber, her family and their business needs.
In addition to writing and executive producing, Ruffin will also star. Seth Myers and Lorne Michaels will also executive produce with Ruffin. Ruffin currently writes for Late Night With Seth Myers. When she joined the writing team she became the first-black woman to write for a late-night talk show in the US.
She is also has a popular segment on the show, Amber Says What, and has has a increasing presence on the show throughout the show.
This will be Ruffin’s first major acting gig, and leading role. The show speaks to Ruffin’s growing relationship with NBC.
