Pacific Rim Franchise Will Release Comic Mini-Series Ahead of Sequel

The highly anticipated sequel to the 2013 sci-fi film Pacific Rim is now only a few short months away, but for any wannabe Jaeger pilot looking for further information about the futuristic world, their wait is going to be just a little bit shorter than everyone else’s. It’s been announced that a six-part miniseries titled Pacific Rim Aftermath will be released ahead of the film and connect the sequel to the original 2013 plotlines.

It will be written by Cavan Scott and drawn by Rich Elson while focusing on Jake Pentecost (John Boyega’s character in Uprising) in Santa Monica during the year 2034 as he looks for reasons surrounding his father’s death as it occurred in the midst of the Kaiju War. Other characters that are expected to appear in the comic series are a Mech Czar who rules the criminal underworld, and a Jaeger pilot who ends up becoming an enforcer for a well-known mob boss.

The official description is as follows:

Prepare to return to the epic universe of Jaegers and Kaiju with PACIFIC RIM AFTERMATH, the official comic book prequel to the highly anticipated new film PACIFIC RIM UPRISING starring John Boyega and coming to theaters March 2018.

Set against a neo-noir backdrop of street gangs, Kaiju worshipers, and Jaeger Scrapyards, a mysterious but familiar figure arrives with a dangerous agenda…
