The nominations are out for the Gotham Independent Film Awards, an annual American film awards celebration for independent filmmakers.  The ceremony takes place in New York City, nicknamed “Gotham.”  The Gotham Awards is also part of the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the largest organization in the U. S. dedicated to independent film.

The full list of nominee are out and Jordan Peele’s horror film Get Out is in the lead with four nominations.  The film had only a $4.5 million budget but raked in $175 million at the box office.  It’s nominations fall under Best Feature, Breakthrough Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor.
