James Gunn Says ‘Guardians 3’ ‘Kickstarts’ New MCU Story
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe got some hints about what’s coming next when director James Gunn had a Twitter Q&A.
When a fan asked about Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige’s recent comments that Avengers 4 was the end of the MCU’s original 22 movie story arc, Gunn clarified what they really meant.

“No. Read Kevin Feige’s quotes & not the static around them. It’s the end of one long story & the beginning of another,” tweeted Gunn.

He also explained the Guardians of the Galaxy movies place in the new story.

The MCU has been building up to a battle over the Infinity Stones with the Mad Titan Thanos. These events will finally come to a head when The Avengers, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy come together in Avengers: Infinity War, which hits theaters May 4, 2018.
